Have you been to Reykjavik, Iceland? If so, then this church facade is engraved in your mind, as it towers above everything in the city.
It's named after the Icelandic minister and poet, Hallgrímur Petursson. It's also the National Church of Iceland (Evangelical Lutheran).
Completed in 1986, the unique design reflects Iceland's landscape with its glaciers, mountains, and trap-rocks.
Outside the church is a statue of the first North American explorer, Leif Erikson. It was gifted by the USA in 1930 to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of Iceland's parliament.
