In 1949, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce joined in the effort to save and preserve the sign.  Throughout the following years, celebrities also contributed t the restoration and upkeep of the sign.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBy August 1978 the sign was demolished and replaced with a sturdier rendition which stands today.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCasper took a vacation to Hollywood and got lost... it's a good thing cats always find their way home!
