Amish transportation is dependent on horse and buggies. Buggies are still primarily made by a local carriage shop, building it from the ground up. There are different types of Amish buggies including Amish "Pickups", Carts, Market Wagons, Spring Wagons and Close Carriages. Add to this the regulations of different Amish sects, and you can see that the local carriage maker is a custom builder.
