Located on Winter Island in Salem, Fort Pickering Lighthouse, also known as Winter Island Light, was built in 1871. 28 feet above sea level, the Fort Pickering Lighthouse helps guides mainers into Salem Harbor. In 1969 the lighthouse was in ruins and replaced. In 1983, the lighthouse was refurbished.
