The Salem Witch Museum invites visitors to experience the witchcraft hysteria of 1692 by using 13 stage sets to re-enact accusations, trials, and executions. During this hysteria in Salem, which was first called Salem Town, 19 people were hanged on Gallows Hill and one was "press'd to death" under a pile of fieldstone.
Today, an inset in the auditorium at the Salem Witch Museum memorializes those whose lives were stripped away by witch hunts.
