This Craighill Channel Lower Front Lighthouse is part of four lighthouses that help to guide ships through the Craighill Channel in the Chesapeake Bay up into the Patapsco River to the port of Baltimore. This caisson-style lighthouse with a round cast iron sparkplug tower was completed in early 1875.
It is the second oldest caisson and sparkplug lighthouse in America. You will find it in the Chesapeake Bay about 2 miles southeast of North Point State Park.
