The Kirkland Monument honors Sgt. Richard R. Kirkland who it is said brought water to every wounded soldier (Confederate and Federal) on the Confederate end of the battlefield at the risk of his own life during the Battle of Fredericksburg, December 14, 1862.  Sergeant Kirkland's actions remain a legend in Fredericksburg to this day.

In 1965, sculptor Felix de Weldon unveiled a statue in front of the stone wall at the Fredericksburg battlefield in Kirkland's honor.  Weldon also created the US Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima Memorial).

Look for Casper, our black cat mascot curled up on the base of the monument.  He is the sign of an authentic Cat's Meow.

This ¾" thick wooden replica is handcrafted in the U.S. to reflect its historical features. It can set neatly on a shelf, wainscoting, or window/door trim to remind you of a special place you've visited.  A short description is written on the back.
