New London Harbor 'Pequot' Lighthouse is located in New London, Connecticut.
This lighthouse was constructed in 1761 and was the first on Long Island Sound. It is both the tallest and the oldest in Connecticut. Lottery tickets were sold by the colonial legislature in order to raise the funds to build this new light. The current 89-foot tapered octagonal structure was completed in 1801. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
