From the 13th to 16th centuries Urquhart was built to be a fortress to protect the Scots from the English on the banks of Loch Ness.  While its name "Urquhart" derives from the 7th century Gaelic and Old Welsh word "Airdchartdan" meaning 'by the wood or thicket'; this location has a history dating back to 580 AD when St. Columba baptized a Pictish nobleman.

Today you can tour Urquhart and take a step back into medieval times.  You can touch the walls that played a significant part in the Wars of Scottish Independence, climb the remaining tower that was partially destroyed by the government during the rise of the Jacobites, and take in the majestic views of Loch Ness.

This ¾" thick wooden keepsake is handcrafted in the U.S. with colorful details. It can set neatly on a shelf, wainscoting, or window/door trim to remind you of a special place you've visited or dream of visiting someday.  A short description is written on the back. Look for Casper, our black cat mascot, taking up residence within the design. This is the sign of an authentic Cat’s Meow!
